Hawk advances to state poetry finale

Katie Hawk, a Ewing High School senior, competed in Poetry Out Loud regional competition, Sunday, in Kearney. She will move on to state finals, scheduled March 8 in Lincoln.

Hawk recited "Silence" by Thomas Hood and "Abandoned Farmhouse" by Ted Kooser in regional competition and will add "The Children's Hour" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as she heads to the state competition.
