Bobcats win Creighton Invite

he Summerland Bobcats downed Hartington-Newcastle, West Holt and Creighton, en route to the top spot at the Creighton Invite, played Sept. 14, in Creighton. Team members include (front row, l-r): Summer Schroeder, Tiana Thramer, Ashley Koenig, Sidney Stallbaum; (middle row, l-r): Kelsey Schlecht, Jaycee Hobbs, Talya Nilson; (back row, l-r): Coach Kray Funk, Brenna Wagner, Hadley Cheatum, Avery Cheatum, Kyra Nilson, Emily Kurpgeweit and Coach Suz Funk. The Bobcats advance to 10-1 on the season and are currently ranked 10th in Class C2 power points.
The Summerland Bobcats claimed the Creighton volleyball invite title for the fourth straight time.
Summerland downed Hartington/Newcastle, West Holt and the host squad, Sept. 14, giving Head Coach Suz Funk her 301st win after the final match.
The Bobcats downed Hartington/Newcastle, 25-20 and 25-18 in the opener.
Brenna Wagner sent 12 kills to the floor and ended with 9 digs in the match.
In the second match, Summerland defeated West Holt, 25-15, 25-9.
Six Bobcats landed aces, including Sidney Stallbaum, who recorded 6 and Kyra Nilson, 1.Avery Cheatum sailed 6 aces across the net.
